We believe...
These two words begin the Nicene Creed which has been the foundational statement of Christians for centuries. This creed helps define the very basics of our trinitarian faith, but there is so much more nuance that the Nicene creed does not give to our faith and practice. To see how the Anglican church is distinct from other churches, I encourage you to use the links below to take you through the centuries as we have developed Anglican Distinctives in our theology.
The Creeds
The Apostles', Nicene, and Athanasian creeds are, as the 39 Articles of religion state, "ought thoroughly to be received and believed: for they may be proved by most certain warrants of Holy Scripture.' (2019 BCP, p. 775) To read through them in their entirety, click the button below.

The Jerusalem Declaration
In the late 90's and early 2000's, some of the clergy in the Epsicopal church at the time faced many challenges with the direction the church was going. Many clergy could not agree with the unorthodox beliefs and practices in place. Therefore, many started to leave the Episcopal church and form faithful, othodox, Anglican churches. With the help of bishops in Africa, the ACNA was formed and the first Global Anglican Fellowship Conference was born.
